About The Position

Performs maintenance, construction and repairs of electrical systems and equipment routinely and on an emergency basis. Equipment includes exhaust fans, lighting, alarms and electrical power distribution. Includes installation of conduits, raceways, wires, electrical apparatus, final connections, troubleshooting and testing of electrical systems. Assists foreman with inventory of working stock and tools. Site experience and familiarity is crucial for this position in providing effective and efficient electrical service. Normal working hours – daylight, Monday through Friday. Performs other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general education degree.
  • 3 to 5 years trade experience.
  • Personal computer experience with ability to use department-specific software programs.
  • Proven mechanical, electrical and electronic skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, quality standards, and productivity requirements.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner in accordance with Company safety policies and industry standard practices pertaining to job function.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience operating all recognized trade equipment and tools necessary to complete job function.
  • Proficient use of basic troubleshooting equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform heavy work.
  • Technical / onsite training and education in electrical construction, procedures, repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, electrical circuitry, electrical safety procedures, electrical testing equipment, electrical power and hand tools associated with the craft.
  • Valid PA driver’s license & fork truck operator’s license.

  • Site experience and familiarity is crucial for this position in providing effective and efficient electrical service.
  • Tech I has obtained, Tech II is working to obtain Journeyman Operating Engineer/Power Engineer or similar.
  • Tech I has obtained, Tech II is working to obtain Class A City of Pittsburgh Engineers License or similar.
  • Universal EPA Certification.
  • Tech II is working toward knowledge, skills and abilities to move into the Tech I position.

Responsibilities

  • Assists foreman with inventory of working stock and tools.
  • Operates and repairs all equipment within the Irongate Technology Center facility.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with Company safety policies and industry standard practices pertaining to job function.
