About The Position

This is a non-union plant employing 280 employees across 3 shifts. The Kendallville plant was purchased in 1934 from Breyer’s Ice Cream and began producing caramel in 1935. It began producing Marshmallows and Marshmallow Crème in 1961 and Marbits (think dehydrated marshmallows found in cereal) in 1979. Kendallville is the sole producer of all our product lines. Kendallville is located about 30 minutes north of Fort Wayne and offers a small-town community.

Requirements

  • Electrical training/degree and experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC’s and components
  • Knowledge of 240/480V systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot ladder logic and make edits as required.
  • Self-motivated and strong drive for results.
  • Use simple mathematics.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb a ladder.
  • Able to work in areas that contain dust and starch particles.
  • Able to work in hot and humid conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and/or food processing, quality standards, hygiene, work safety, etc. preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair all electrical/electronic equipment and control equipment associated with the building, production, and utilities.
  • Coordinate with production to address any corrective maintenance required on assigned equipment to ensure optimum line efficiency and product quality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all production, building, and utilities equipment as assigned.
  • Participate in the development of detailed preventive maintenance plan.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and system design.
  • Troubleshoot and modify programs on existing programmable controllers and write new programs for existing and new programmable computers.
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend/implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate with maintenance personnel on other shifts, as necessary, to ensure coordination of maintenance efforts on assigned equipment.
  • Work cross functionally as a member of the operations team.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
