About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining all electrical branch-circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, equipment, and facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman-like manner, using proper procedures, tools, and equipment, and ensuring all systems comply with applicable code and regulatory standards. The role involves repairing electrical equipment, designing systems for new construction, additions, and remodels, coordinating with associated trades and contractors, and reading, creating, and redlining blueprints and schematics. Additionally, the position performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and appliances, including commercial and residential kitchen equipment, and electronic controls. Other duties may include snow removal and assisting other departments with general labor. This is a full-time, in-person, and essential position requiring work at an assigned location during scheduled times, with potential for work arrangement changes. Call back pay applies for eligible employees required to report to work outside of scheduled shifts. On-call pay is provided for eligible employees scheduled to be available outside of working hours.

Requirements

  • Current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician or master electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board.
  • State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
  • Willingness to submit and pass a full background check.
  • Possession and maintenance of an active and valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Colorado.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license (out-of-state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of employment).
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Check.
  • Willingness to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide documentation for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Successful completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Availability to respond in person to after-hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • Willingness to rotate after-hours on-call and be able to respond, in person, to after-hours calls to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • Willingness to work various hours for coverage, weather-related issues, and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid and active master electrician license issued by the State of Colorado.
  • Relevant years of state service experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including electrical distribution and security systems and electrical preventative maintenance; fire alarms and other automation controls and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing and documenting audits and inspections of electrical projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper procedures in the handling, care, and response to exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NEC - National Electrical Code.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA - National Fire Protection Association 110- Emergency Power.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA - National Fire Protection Association – 101.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand sketches, shop drawings, and complex blueprints.
  • Excellent skills and abilities in oral and written communication.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work assignments appropriately and accomplish tasks within established timeframes.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all electrical branch-circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, equipment, and facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman-like manner, using proper procedures, tools, and equipment, and maintaining all systems in accordance with applicable code and regulatory standards.
  • Design, layout, and determine materials required to install new and adapt existing electrical branch distribution systems, devices, raceways, wiring, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C requirements for new construction, additions, and remodels.
  • Coordinate and work with associated trades and contractors to accomplish electrical system installations and adaptations.
  • Read, interpret, design, draw, and modify blueprints, wiring schematics, and wiring diagrams to service and maintain new and existing electrical branch distribution systems, devices, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C requirements.
  • Perform required and trade-related preventative and predictive maintenance on existing stationary and mobile electrical branch distribution systems, devices, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C. requirements.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all commercial and residential kitchen equipment, including electrically, steam, and gas-operated equipment, as well as specialty bake shop equipment and electronic controls.
  • Order parts and supplies, and provide specifications and guidance to nutritional services staff with ordering new equipment.
  • Keep inventory of needed replacement parts for kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in the installation and set-up of new kitchen equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include snow removal and assisting other departments with general labor requirements.
