About The Position

Serves as an electrician performing the full range of functions in connection with the installation, modification, and/or repair of electrical systems and electrically operated equipment for the Navy Exchange.

Requirements

One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform basic electrical work such as repairing electrical wiring systems and switches.
Five years of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform a full range of electrician functions in connection with installation, modification, and/or repair of electrical systems and electrically operated equipment.
Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions where parts of systems are in hard-to-reach places.
Frequently lifts, carries and sets up tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally may lift or carry items weighing over 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems related to switches, switchgear, distribution panels, and outlet boxes, circuits, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, motors, and electrically operated equipment.
Follows maintenance schedules and inspections or work orders to perform maintenance, services, diagnose system or equipment malfunctions, and make repairs as necessary.
Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests, and adjusts electrical buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, office and heating drills, grinders, and shop equipment.
Tests circuits and equipment using a voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, megger, and ohmmeter.
Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits, inserting, splicing, and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power sources.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
