Our Building Maintenance Division maintains dozens of City facilities that serve residents, employees, and visitors. The Electrician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and lighting systems throughout City facilities. This position works under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor while exercising considerable independent judgment in diagnosing electrical issues, coordinating repairs, and leading small to moderate electrical projects.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4–6 years of electrical experience as a Lead Electrician or Foreman (must be clearly reflected on application) “OR” No High School Diploma/GED with 8-10 years of electrical experience as a Lead Electrician or Foreman (must be clearly reflected on application) “OR” an Associate’s Degree with 2+ years of electrical experience as a Lead Electrician or Foreman (must be clearly reflected on application)
  • Basic Electronics Certificate “OR” ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
  • Ability to meet all local and state fire codes and the security needs of the facility.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • North Carolina Electrical Contractor License- Limited, Intermediate, or Unlimited
  • Experience with Card Access & Closed Circuit TV

Responsibilities

  • Install complete electrical systems in new construction projects.
  • Diagnose and repair existing electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot outlets, switches, panels, lighting systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Determine repair needs and develop material lists for project estimates.
  • Coordinate projects and provide information for purchasing materials.
  • Lead van personnel and oversee assigned electrical projects.
  • Design, install, troubleshoot, and maintain: Card Access Systems Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Maintain City Journeyman's Card requirements.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Train and mentor newer maintenance technicians.
  • Operate electrical hand tools, power tools, computers, and network interface equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
