About The Position

Performs skilled work at the journeyman level involving responsibility for difficult electrical maintenance and repair operations, as well as installation work. Work is performed to prescribed standards and procedures, subject to inspection by a supervisor. This position is designated as "Essential Personnel", requiring employees to report to their job site during emergency situations such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations. May be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergency situations, including weather and other building emergencies.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or trade school.
• Possession of a valid Virginia Master's or journeyman electrician card.
• Possession of a valid Commercial Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
• Must obtain a Class B vehicle license upon employment.
• Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, tools, and terminology of the electrical trade.
• Skill in making repairs to complicated electric wiring, fixtures, motors and equipment.
• Ability to read from blueprints.
• Good physical condition required.
• Ability to work at high altitudes, and under adverse temperature and weather conditions.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, and climb/use a ladder.
• Position requires significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Performance of more strenuous physical tasks, such as: walking over rough or uneven surfaces bending or stooping; working in confined spaces; lifting or carrying items weighing 20-50 pounds with occasional lifting of items weighing over 100 pounds.
• Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
