About The Position

Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment throughout the District; performs related work as required. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the District's facilities. This includes troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and installing new electrical systems or components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in electrical work OR four (4) years of journey-level experience as an electrician.
  • Valid Nevada State Driver's License.
  • Possession of a valid Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Nevada.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant safety standards.
  • Skill in the use of electrical testing equipment and tools.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or similar control systems.
  • Experience in a school district or similar institutional setting.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power distribution, control systems, and communication systems.
  • Troubleshoots electrical problems and performs diagnostic tests to identify and resolve issues.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand electrical system layouts and requirements.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
  • Installs new electrical systems, components, and fixtures according to specifications and safety codes.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and District policies.
  • Responds to emergency electrical calls and performs necessary repairs.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of tools and equipment used in electrical work.
  • Collaborates with other maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
