About The Position

Wiring of electrical circuits and all other parts of electrical systems throughout the hospital are inspected and repaired as necessary. Monday-Friday 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM

Requirements

  • Knowledge of prints and wiring diagrams and their specifications about routine electrical installations and repairs connected with installing lights, switches, and simple wiring. Performs the more complicated installation procedures as might be connected with working with currently used by the Radiology Department and Operating Room equipment upon order of the working foreman, electrician, and under person's instruction and supervision. This knowledge is normally acquired through a minimum of one year of experience as an electrician.
  • Works from wiring diagrams and drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and the use of electrical measuring instruments.
  • High school or equivalent.
  • Journeyman's electrician's license issued by State Examiners of Electricians of Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

  • Receives assignments from the electrician manager and performs duties under minimum supervision on routine tasks. Receives specific information concerning tasks and follows instructions and specifics according to prints or diagrams. Completed work orders turned in to secretary by 8:00 a.m. the following day 100% of the time.
  • Installs electrical equipment, wiring, and machinery; fastens fixtures, switches, and outlet boxes in correct positions, with 95% accuracy. Installs wires and makes connections to complete circuits. Places lighting fixtures, motors, and transformers into place; connects necessary wiring. Inspects and tests electrical wiring, switches, lighting, communication, and other equipment and wiring. Replaces blown fuses, defective sockets, switches, and worn wires, some of which require dismantling and reassembling of machines or equipment. Tests circuits after repairs have been completed to check for correct operation.
  • Works with a helper when additional labor is required by the work order. Instructs and trains helper in helper's duties to comply with prescribed safety procedures.
  • Reports unusual problems and situations to supervisor for further action. Informs supervisor of incomplete work at the end of each workday.
  • Leaves work areas in clean, orderly, and safe condition 100% of the time.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed.
  • Must be able to be on a 24-hour call back to the hospital and have transportation.
  • Works under the direction of the electrician manager.
