About The Position

The Licensed Electrician leads all aspects of electrical maintenance and engineering within a GMP-compliant pharmaceutical laboratory and pilot plant environment. You will ensure the reliable operation of critical electrical systems—including power distribution, emergency generators, clean utilities, and building automation systems—while maintaining strict adherence to FDA and other regulatory standards. This role is vital to supporting production continuity, facility compliance, equipment reliability, and inspection readiness. Requirements

  • High school diploma or state equivalent and completion of electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent trade school education
  • Completion of electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent trade school education (minimum of 2 or 3 years experience)
  • Valid State Electrical License (Journeyman minimum) required
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience working in GMP-compliant pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences facilities
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Arc flash assessment and electrical safety training
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems and energy management platforms
  • Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and validated environment maintenance procedures
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and control diagrams; knowledge of power distribution systems, motor controls, and lighting systems
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes
  • Proficient with computer-based systems including Microsoft Office, electrical design software, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of NEC, local electrical codes, and NFPA standards
  • Physically able to work in electrical rooms, on ladders, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Available for 24-hour emergency electrical response and overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Accept and log all electrical-related service calls in the CMMS database, respond immediately to electrical alarms and power outages, and monitor electrical systems throughout facility operations
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems including switchgear, motor control centers, emergency generators, UPS systems, lighting systems, and fire alarm electrical components up to 480V
  • Perform routine electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting of single and three-phase motors, testing of protective devices, and comprehensive electrical safety inspections
  • Work within GMP and controlled lab environments, following strict gowning, cleaning, and contamination control protocols while maintaining all electrical systems to pharmaceutical/biotechnology facility standards
  • Complete and maintain proper documentation per Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and SOPs, capture all work data including material costs and labor hours, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with facility occupants, coordinate with utility providers, supervise electrical contractors, and maintain organized electrical rooms in compliance with NFPA and NEC standards
  • Review electrical system performance, develop maintenance recommendations with Chief Engineer, operate Building Automation System electrical interfaces, and maintain site compliance with JLL JCAP audit requirements
