About The Position

This role is for an Electrician Maintenance Project Crew member responsible for maintaining electrical systems in a plant environment. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of various electrical systems, including AC motor and DC drive systems, and the ability to read schematics. The electrician will be involved in troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and replacement of electrical components, as well as assisting with various projects that may involve welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and mechanical tasks. The job also entails operating heavy industrial equipment and adhering to safety codes and policies. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift over 60 lbs.

Requirements

  • Complete understanding and working knowledge of 110, 240, 480-volt AC motor and DC drive system.
  • Ability to read and work off schematics.
  • Ability to use all electrical hand tools.
  • Ability to estimate and design basic electrical systems.
  • Ability to weld, use cutting tools such as cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinders, etc.
  • Ability to operate heavy industrial equipment such as crane, boom lift, scissor lift, telehandler, forklift etc.
  • Fabrication experience to build catwalks, handrails, transitions, equipment supports etc.
  • Rigging experience/certifications.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift more than 60 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to document information.
  • Ability to communicate with others written and verbally.
  • Electrician Maintenance EC01 – EC08.
  • 1 plus year of accumulative electrical or industrial maintenance or millwright experience required.
  • Good working knowledge of all OSHA, NEC Codes and Plant Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Able and willing to work weekends, and any/all other hours as needed to complete the project.
  • Able to travel, which will be required to complete jobs at other facilities.
  • Able to work more than 12 hours if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems in the plant.
  • Install and replace conduit.
  • Assist in projects requiring welding, hydraulics, power transmissions, pneumatics, fabrication, pipe fitting, rigging, mechanical layout, and plumbing.
  • Perform welding, cutting, equipment removal and installation, structural fabrication, pipe fitting, and heavy equipment setup.
  • Operate various electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment, including cranes and lifts.
  • Remove, install, and set up rendering equipment such as conveyors, pumps, cookers, hydrolyzers, presses, power transmission components, steam traps, ramps, catwalks, and piping.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, NEC Codes, and Plant Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Calculate and figure wire and pipe sizes.
  • Line up pipe runs.
  • Calculate estimated completion times.
  • Perform basic electrical work and use basic electrical tools including a digital multi-meter.
  • Wire and un-wire 3-phase motors and perform basic single-phase terminations.
  • Operate heavy industrial equipment such as cranes, boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and forklifts.
  • Perform fabrication to build catwalks, handrails, transitions, and equipment supports.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Lift more than 60 lbs.
  • Read and understand policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Document information.
  • Communicate with others written and verbally.
  • Perform any/all other duties to maintain the welfare of the plant.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by management.
