About The Position

The position is located at the McDavid, FL, sawmill operation and reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor. This role involves testing electrical systems, inspecting equipment for hazards, troubleshooting and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), reading and updating electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting/programming AC variable speed drives. The electrician will also maintain and upgrade power distribution systems, MCCs, and switch gears, and work from various instructions to design, assemble, or install electrical equipment. Additionally, the role includes working with vendors for parts identification, operating power lift equipment, and being available to work outside scheduled hours as needed for mill production.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have 3-5 years of verifiable work experience as an Electrician in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be willing to work rotating shift and Weekends
  • Employer will perform a background check, reference check, physical, and drug screen
  • Experienced with Allen-Bradley PLC5
  • Experienced with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000
  • Experienced with Allen-Bradley Panelviews and Panelview Plus
  • Experienced with Allen-Bradley Communications – RS232 & Ethernet
  • Experienced with Scanning and Optimization systems within the Lumber Manufacturing Business (Porter, USNR, etc.)
  • Experienced with Process Network Communication Systems and Components - Ethernet & Fiber Optic

Responsibilities

  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Troubleshoot, program, and upgrade Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Read, understand, and update instrumentation loop diagrams, E & I drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Troubleshoot and program AC variable speed drives
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade power distribution system, MCC, and switch gears
  • Work from sketches, manuals, verbal instructions, and drawings to design, assemble or install electrical equipment within the plant
  • Work with vendors to identify any parts needed and make recommendations to the supervisor
  • Operate power lift equipment when necessary
  • Be willing to work outside scheduled hours as necessary for Mill Production to continue
