About The Position

The Electrician Faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that prepares students for careers as electricians in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position involves developing and teaching courses aligned with industry standards, including electrical theory, wiring methods, blueprint reading, safety practices, and compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). The faculty member will foster a hands-on learning environment through lab-based instruction, integrate emerging technologies, and maintain strong connections with industry partners to ensure program relevance. Additional responsibilities include curriculum development, student advising, assessment of learning outcomes, and participation in departmental and college-wide initiatives to support student success and workforce readiness.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in an electrician program or completion of a registered electrician apprenticeship program.
  • Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience as a licensed electrician in residential and commercial.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.
  • State of Minnesota Class A Journeyman Electrician License.

Nice To Haves

  • The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
