About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Wiring Technician/Electrician for its San Antonio, Texas plant. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing. The role involves wiring transformers, panels, and other devices on units according to engineering drawings, while working safely and delivering quality workmanship in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies, procedures, and plant operations.

The position is based in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, dirt, dust, indoor and outdoor cold or heat, and hazards from working around heavy equipment and machinery. The role requires following safety rules and instructions, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and participating in a Continuous Improvement Team as a condition of employment.

Requirements

• Possess a complete understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) on electrical drawings, as applicable.
• Ability to use hand tools, electrical equipment, and measuring tape.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Vision corrected to 20/20.
• Ability to perform the stated physical activities, including occasional lifting of 50 lbs.
• Must understand and follow safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Wire PLC transformers, microprocessors, and junction boxes.
• Assemble and wire control panels from drawings.
• Perform conduit layout of units in accordance with NEC and UL standards.
• Identify and wire all devices on units.
• Follow safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and/or equipment as required.
• Participate in a Continuous Improvement Team.
