The Apprentice Commercial Electrician is an entry-level, client-facing field role supporting electrical service work across commercial, industrial, and construction environments. Under the direct supervision of a Journeyman or Master Electrician, the apprentice assists with troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems; responding to service calls; and installing electrical components. The role emphasizes safe, high-quality work, professional customer interactions, and development of foundational technical and problem-solving skills while progressing through apprenticeship training and required on-the-job training hours. Documentation or a letter verifying on-the-job training hours may help determine starting salary. The position is primarily field-based, with travel to changing job sites across the service area. Work may take place indoors or outdoors and involve active construction sites, operational facilities, and customer-occupied spaces. Conditions can include extreme temperatures, noise, dust, confined spaces, and work around electrical systems. Schedules are generally Monday through Friday, with start times varying by job site and service requirements. Early mornings, extended shifts, occasional overtime, and weekend work may be required. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, an active state-specific Apprentice Electrician License, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program. The job is full-time and includes the physical demands of field electrical work, such as lifting materials up to 50 pounds, climbing, working at heights, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
