Electrical Test Technician
About The Position
At Hitachi Energy’s Bland, Virginia facility, the Electrical Test Technician helps ensure dry-type transformers meet safety, quality, and performance standards. The role supports production and research testing activities in a manufacturing environment and is responsible for complying with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. The technician performs hands-on testing, documents results, troubleshoots test setups, and contributes to process improvements while working with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams. The role may also support customer visits, audits, inspections, and other production areas as business needs require.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Technology or a related field.
- Experience using electrical instrumentation, measurement systems, and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with transformer technology.
- Familiarity with low- and medium-voltage power systems.
- Familiarity with international testing standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing of dry-type transformers in accordance with UL, IEEE, IEC, and other applicable standards.
- Support production and R&D testing activities while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
- Document test procedures, data, and results accurately.
- Troubleshoot test setups and help identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to optimize product performance.
- Support customer visits, audits, and inspections during testing activities.
- Provide flexible support to other production areas as business needs require.
- Work independently while contributing to team goals and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
