About The Position

ALTEN Technology USA is hiring an Electrical Test Engineer to support design verification and production validation of a high-voltage zonal control module through vehicle launch. The engineer will work hands-on in the client’s high-voltage lab, executing component-, board-, and module-level test campaigns, building automated test setups, and analyzing test data to provide actionable findings to the design team. High-temperature validation is complete, low-temperature validation is underway, and a design revision is in progress. This is an autonomous execution role: the engineer is expected to develop the test approach from an objective, build and operate the setup, conduct the campaign, and deliver results with minimal day-to-day direction. The position is located in Long Beach, California. ALTEN Technology USA is an engineering company supporting clients across industries including aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles, and rail. It is part of the global ALTEN Group, which has 57,000+ engineers in 30 countries. The company describes a culture emphasizing mentorship, career growth, and comprehensive benefits. The listed salary range is $115,000–$130,000/K. The actual salary offered depends on factors including location and the candidate’s job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience. Candidates selected for employment must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in hardware test, validation, or bring-up; automotive or power electronics hardware experience is ideal.
  • Hands-on bench skills with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, probing, and instrumentation setup.
  • Python experience for test automation and instrument control, using pyvisa or an equivalent.
  • Component- and board-level debugging ability.
  • Ability to read schematics and datasheets.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to define a test approach from an objective without supervision.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • High-voltage automotive experience with onboard chargers, DC/DC converters, battery management systems, zonal modules, or body control modules.
  • Familiarity with design verification and production validation processes, DVP&R, and automotive environmental and life-cycle test standards.
  • Experience with CAN and serial bus tooling or HIL.
  • Prior experience with a prototype-to-production transition within a vehicle program.

Responsibilities

  • Execute design verification and production validation test campaigns on high-voltage zonal module hardware, including relay life-cycle testing, low-temperature validation, and environmental stress testing.
  • Build and operate bench test setups using oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable power supplies, power amplifiers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Write Python automation to control instrumentation and sweep test parameters, such as voltage and frequency, rather than adjusting them manually.
  • Perform component- and board-level characterization, including buck and boost converter validation, SPI bus characterization, high-side driver characterization under representative capacitive loading, and repeat-run characterization across more than 100 iterations to identify intermittent failures.
  • Capture and reduce test data, conduct initial failure investigations, and provide findings and clear recommendations to the responsible design engineer.
  • Author and maintain test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Report task-level progress on a near-daily cadence.
  • Use product specifications to determine what must be tested and how, with minimal direction.
