About The Position

The Electrical Project Engineer serves as a key member of the team, taking ownership of the electrical scope of work from proposal through construction. This role involves client contact and requires autonomy for project-related tasks. The engineer will develop electrical engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, and assessments for commercial facilities, utilizing software like AutoCAD and Revit MEP to create detailed designs. Responsibilities also include construction administration, fostering industry relationships, assisting with marketing strategies, and providing technical oversight and mentorship to the electrical design team. The position emphasizes participation in quality assurance procedures and departmental efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in electrical or architectural engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Minimum five years applicable experience.
  • Use of personal smart phone for company services such as project communication, expense tracking, and other departmental tasks.
  • English language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, CEC employees, and the public.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • AutoCAD and Revit MEP proficiency required.
  • Organizational skills: ability to prioritize, organize and delegate tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Remote connectivity device with data plan sufficient for company requirements, such as, multi-factor authentication, time and mileage tracking, expense reimbursement, e-mail, and virtual communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Oklahoma and Texas PE license preferred.
  • Construction and/or trade experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as electrical project engineer with autonomy for project-related tasks and client contact.
  • Take ownership of the electrical scope of work from proposal through construction.
  • Perform project management responsibilities on multi-discipline projects, ensuring successful completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop electrical engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and assessments for commercial facilities.
  • Use AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other MEP-specific design and calculation software to create detailed designs for construction documents.
  • Select electrical materials appropriate for facilities based on coordination with owners, architects, other disciplines, and code requirements.
  • Provide construction administration oversight, including submittal review, RFI responses, and periodic site observations.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain industry relationships and provide client care.
  • Partner with the marketing team to pursue new and repeat work.
  • Assist with estimating, pricing, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
  • Provide design direction, technical oversight, and mentorship to the electrical design team.
  • Participate in and ensure QC/QA procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate design standards and procedures in assigned work.
  • Aid in the maintenance and further development of department efficiency tools and standards.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
