We are currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing Electrical Engineering (EE) team. In this role, you will be involved in electrical engineering and construction support efforts for all clients (e.g., Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense), ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. The degree must be coming from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • 3–5 years of experience in building electrical systems design.
  • Proficient BlueBeam, AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
  • Experienced with power analysis programs (ETAP, Easypower, SKM, etc.) to perform electrical calculations and prepare design documents.
  • Strong understanding of NEC fundamental requirements.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and inclusive positive culture.
  • EIT certification.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Infrastructure, Healthcare, Federal, or DoD project experience
  • Experience with construction administration and field coordination
  • Exposure to emergency power systems, generators, and UPS systems
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, 72, or 99
  • Interest in pursuing PE and/or RCDD licensure

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an electrical designer for a variety of project types, including healthcare, higher education, data centers, mission-critical facilities, federal facilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Lead small to medium-scale project design efforts while supporting senior engineers on larger or more complex projects through coordination, design assistance, and technical execution.
  • Design, specify, and coordinate: Electrical power systems, including medium and low-voltage distribution, essential electrical systems, standby power, and UPS systems.
  • Design, specify, and coordinate: Voltage drop, short-circuit, over-current protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • Design, specify, and coordinate: Grounding and lightning protection systems.
  • Design, specify, and coordinate: Lighting systems, luminaire and lighting control layouts, equipment selection, and photometric analysis.
  • Design, specify, and coordinate: Low-voltage systems, including telecommunications, fire alarm, security, access control, surveillance, nurse call, building management systems, and other associated control systems.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and other disciplines.
  • Oversee and participate in field investigations, site surveys, and construction inspections at project sites.
  • Responding to RFIs and submittals during construction.
  • Participate in internal QA/QC reviews and design coordination meetings.
  • Ensure company standard operating procedures are adhered to and tasks are performed on time.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable building and electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work closely with internal design disciplines to ensure coordinated, integrated project delivery.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and responsive service.
  • Represent SDB in client meetings, presentations, and industry-related activities.
