About The Position

The Electrical Pre-Commissioning Technician 2 reports to the Installation Department and participates in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. The role prepares systems for Controls Engineering by testing them and ensuring they are ready for more comprehensive controls functional commissioning and integration. The technician works with electrical installers and Controls Engineers to implement and validate material handling systems at customer sites throughout North America.

Requirements

Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience, preferably in an electrical engineering-related field with a strong emphasis on PLC controls.
Working knowledge of networks such as Device Net, Ethernet, AS-I, Profi-bus, and Profi-Net.
Knowledge of AC/DC circuits and multiphase power distribution.
Working knowledge of fundamental electronic test equipment, including multimeters.
At least two years of experience with material handling systems controls and wiring.

Responsibilities

Work with electrical installers and Controls Engineers to implement and validate material handling systems at customer sites throughout North America.
Load emulated PLC programs and perform static functional testing according to the Description of Operation and drawing documentation.
Complete material handling system I/O and device-level checkout and validation.
Troubleshoot and correct component problems, including PLCs, field devices, and network repeaters.
Test, validate, and troubleshoot communications and controls networks, including Ethernet IP, Device Net, Control Net, Profi-bus, AS-I, and CAN.
Turn over validated subsystems to the Controls Engineering group with appropriate validation checklists.
Provide daily and weekly progress reports on completed tasks and exceptions.
