About The Position

Shermco Canada is seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.) to join our growing Saskatchewan engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead and contribute to the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems for a diverse client base. You will be based out of our Saskatoon or Regina office, with flexibility for remote or hybrid work for candidates located within Saskatchewan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Saskatchewan
  • 6+ years of overall experience, including a minimum of 3+ years of experience obtained after earning P.Eng. designation, in relevant power systems engineering.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower) is an asset
  • Familiarity with protection relays and substation/automation systems is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff
  • Plan, manage, and execute electrical engineering projects across industrial and utility sectors
  • Perform power system analysis and design, including both new installations and system upgrades
  • Design and integrate protective relaying systems (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, or similar platforms)
  • Support substation automation solutions, including RTUs, HMIs, communications, and control systems
  • Conduct electrical studies such as: Short-circuit and coordination studies, Arc-flash hazard analysis, Load flow, grounding, and harmonic studies
  • Create, review, and approve electrical drawing packages, including: Single-line and three-line diagrams, Schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements
  • Design and modify electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, CTs/PTs, protective devices, relays, and controls
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues and develop practical, client-focused solutions
  • Support field services teams during maintenance, commissioning, and site activities as needed
  • Perform onsite inspections and technical data collection
  • Contribute to proposal development, estimates, and technical input for client engagements
