About The Position

Wagstaff manufactures equipment for aluminum producers, who process formed aluminum into parts and products you use every day. As an Electrical Panel Builder, you will accurately build quality automated equipment by interpreting electrical drawings. This role involves applying knowledge of Wagstaff equipment, associated production flow, and business software to equipment of varying complexity. You will be responsible for completing quality documentation, estimating hours for production tasks, and meeting production schedule goals. The position also requires serving as a production level subject matter expert, interfacing with various departments, and building/wiring control panels. Tasks include mechanical assembly, installing electrical conduit, pulling wire, bending and installing pneumatic piping, installing motors, and performing associated tasks for building industrial electrical/automated equipment. You will also be responsible for electrically and mechanically testing, calibrating, and performing quality control functions on finished products, as well as analyzing and troubleshooting systems and electrical issues. Collaboration with the Production team for integration and connections, providing feedback to engineers and designers, and training other team members are key aspects of this role. Identifying potential design, reliability, and functionality issues and proposing solutions is also expected. You will independently apply expertise to create internal documentation and procedures, implement effective decision-making in time-sensitive environments, and demonstrate proficiency in completing assigned tasks. The role involves interacting constructively with others, mentoring new employees, and maintaining a clean work area. Working in excess of 40 hours may be required to achieve business objectives. Periodic domestic and international travel may be necessary for field service responsibilities, assisting customers with electrical issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years related experience
  • Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices to production efforts
  • Independently evaluates, selects and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform assigned tasks
  • Exercises judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for projects of varying complexity
  • Independently utilizes standard business software applications to improve process flow and production
  • Prepares complete quality documents for assembled equipment
  • Independently utilizes knowledge of electrical principles to produce high quality equipment and troubleshoot electrical problems
  • Independently applies knowledge of electrical codes and standards to equipment production
  • Coordinates with other panel builders as well as designers, engineers, and members of other departments as necessary
  • Mentoring of other panel builders in a limited number of specific areas
  • Plans, schedules, or coordinates the production of equipment or activities as assigned
  • Receives general direction on assigned tasks. Work is reviewed in accordance with departmental processes and procedures
  • Capable of prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of Wagstaff equipment, associated production flow, and business software to equipment of varying complexity
  • Read, understand, and interpret electrical drawings
  • Complete quality documentation for equipment production according to department and corporate procedures
  • Accurately estimate hours to complete production tasks
  • Consistently meet goals with respect to planned hours and production schedule
  • Serve as production level subject matter expert as assigned
  • Interface with Designers, Engineers, other Panel Builders, and other personnel as required to effectively build quality equipment
  • Build and wire control panels
  • Mechanical assembly of power distribution panels, operator control consoles, and so forth
  • Install electrical conduit, pull wire, bend and install pneumatic piping, install motors, and perform other associated tasks of building industrial electrical/automated equipment
  • Electrically and mechanically test, calibrate, and perform various quality control and process control functions on finished product
  • Analyze and troubleshoot systems and electrical issues of varying complexity
  • Work with Production team to integrate and make connections with finished electrical panels utilizing best methods and cost effective processes
  • Provide feedback to engineers and designers, including the red-lining of drawings and NPR tags, to correct and continually improve equipment design
  • Train other team members in support of departmental processes and equipment production methods
  • Identify potential design, reliability, and functionality issues and provide possible solutions that minimize impact on productivity, production schedules, and/or the customer
  • Independently apply experience and expertise to the creation of internal documentation and procedures as assigned
  • Ability to implement effective decision-making in a time-sensitive environment
  • Exhibit proficiency, efficiency, and competence in completing assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to interact constructively and efficiently with others
  • Mentor newly hired employees as directed
