About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, circuits, outlets, lighting, and equipment rated from low voltage to 480 volts. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing motors, transformers, panels, disconnects, and lighting systems. The technician will also install and maintain low-voltage systems such as fire alarms, security systems, intercoms, and building automation controls, as well as maintain and repair school clocks and timing systems. A key aspect of the role is performing predictive maintenance by inspecting electrical systems and equipment to identify potential failures before they occur. The technician will replace or repair faulty wiring, switches, fixtures, and components, adhering to safety codes, and assist with electrically controlled door hardware. Maintaining tools, materials, and equipment in safe working condition and ensuring all work complies with NEC, OSHA, and local codes are also essential duties. Collaboration with other maintenance, HVAC, and construction teams on facility projects and utilizing school dude for building repairs are part of the job. Additional duties may be assigned by the administration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, circuits, and safety procedures.
  • Experience with low-voltage and high-voltage (up to 480V) systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Skilled in using multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Understanding of predictive maintenance techniques (thermography, vibration analysis, etc.) is a plus.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong safety awareness.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of NEC codes, OSHA safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or on rooftops.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
  • State or local electrician license (Journeyman or equivalent) preferred or required depending on jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair school clocks and timing systems to ensure accuracy and synchronization.
  • Perform predictive maintenance, inspecting electrical systems and equipment to identify potential failures before they occur.
  • Replace or repair faulty wiring, switches, fixtures, and components, following safety codes.
  • Assist with electrically controlled door hardware such as locks, closers, strikes, and keycard access systems.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and equipment in safe working condition.
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, and local codes.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance, HVAC, and construction teams on facility projects.
  • Enter school dude for building repairs and closeout when complete.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
