About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the electrical installation of equipment in a manufacturing setting, and the repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of plastic production machinery and facility electrical equipment. This includes building and installing control boxes on new or refurbished equipment, helping the maintenance team solve production maintenance related issues, and may be required to direct the work of contractors who are conducting electrical installation of equipment. THey currently have an opening on each of these shifts: -First shift Monday - Friday 7 AM to 3 PM -3rd Shift Sunday - Thursday 11 PM to 7 AM There is weekly OT, 5 -10 hours/week or more during your shift. Also weekend OT, every other month in winter but at least twice a month the rest of the year

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and troubleshoot and repair equipment off of schematics/prints
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial electrical equipment in a manufacturing facility on things like VFDs, AC.DC Motors, starters, drives, 3 -phase motors, light fixtures and other electrical equipment (PLC experience is a bonus)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tack with people.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work independently, solve problems, and make decisions within the scope of the position with little direction.
  • Near vision - the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proof of insurability and ability to drive to other facilities if needed
  • Attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets blueprints and electrical code specifications and schematics to effectively troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and defective parts.
  • Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, control devices, and equipment.
  • Diagnose, determines cause and repairs malfunctioning equipment using test equipment.
  • Performs repairs (electrical and/or mechanical)
  • Performs preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Operates forklift and scissor lift, as needed.
  • Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes.
  • Has working knowledge of NEC and wiring methods.
  • Maintain repair and maintenance records, including inventory, documents, manuals, drawings, etc.
  • Supports the RTP quality policy and customer satisfaction mission by minimizing equipment downtime and lost production capacity.
