About The Position

Nucor Insulated Panel Group is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to support continuous manufacturing operations at our Laurens facility. This position is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of all systems, controls, and automation equipment supporting production lines and facility utilities. The Electrical Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting automation and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong electrical and some mechanical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in Industrial Electrical Technology or related field OR 3+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to safely work with voltage up to 600V.
  • Basic computer skills (CMMS, Outlook, etc.).
  • Communication - The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.

  • Spatial Understanding- Ability to read prints and apply information to end use and/or awareness of physical surroundings and understanding objects in 3D space.
  • Mechanical Maintenance Systems and Techniques- Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, tools, devices, moving parts, and equipment.
  • Electrical Knowledge- Knowledge of basic electrical theory, including basic troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or maintenance of electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems.
  • Motors, motor starters, VFDs, and soft starters.
  • 480V / 277V / 120V / 24V power distribution systems.
  • Control panels, MCCs, and electrical enclosures.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (I/O, sensors, HMIs, basic ladder diagnostics).
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Support automation, sensors, encoders, and safety circuits troubleshooting.
  • Install and maintain components per NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Assist with startup, commissioning, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations.
  • Document work and electrical changes.
  • Support plant utilities and facility systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
