About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing required repairs and tasks to instruments, controls, and electrical systems efficiently and in a timely manner to restore or maintain safe operating capability. This role involves installing and verifying new instrument, control, and electrical systems according to maintenance procedures, using drawings, manuals, or blueprints. The technician will also recommend changes to existing systems to improve reliability, accuracy, or optimize processes, and suggest tools, equipment, or methods to enhance safety and timeliness of repairs. Maintaining acceptable housekeeping standards, communicating system alterations for accurate site records and documentation, and working with various electrical equipment are key aspects of the position. The role also includes installing, maintaining, and optimizing site equipment for safe operation and maximum production availability, making recommendations for control system improvements, and troubleshooting electrical controls issues. The technician must be able to read, comprehend, and execute tasks from technical manuals and comply with all applicable safety regulations and company policies. Management reserves the right to modify duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical School Degree or Associates Degree in a related field; Completion of accredited trade program
  • Possess valid Journeyman's certificate or higher
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting components; including servos, sensors, control component, PLCs, VFDs, MMI, Service Panels & MCCs sensors/instruments, valves/motors

Responsibilities

  • Complete required repairs and tasks to instruments, controls, and electrical systems in an efficient, timely manner to restore or maintain safe operating capability.
  • Install and verify new instrument, control, and electrical systems according to maintenance procedures using drawings, manuals, or blueprints.
  • Recommend changes to existing instruments, controls, electrical systems, or equipment to improve reliability, accuracy, or further optimize processes.
  • Recommend tools, equipment, or methods to improve the safety and timeliness of system repairs.
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards in the work area.
  • Communicate any alterations to existing instrument, control, or electrical systems to ensure all site records are current and proper documentation is completed.
  • Work with electrical equipment such as PLC’s, temperature controllers, various instrumentation (e.g., pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensing devices, etc.), and electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and optimize site equipment to provide a safe operation with maximum production availability, including hammer mills, bucket elevators, conveyor belts and other machinery.
  • Make recommendations to improve existing control systems to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve electrical controls issues on stationary and rotational equipment.
  • Read, comprehend, and execute tasks and concepts found in technical operating and maintenance manuals, and other written documents.
  • Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies.
