About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will support the maintenance department with the strategic and tactical support of the operations at the Hamilton Precision Metals facility. The Maintenance Technician will work on both preventive and daily initiatives. They will trouble shoot solutions and a variety of mechanical and electrical issues. The Maintenance Technicians will collaborate with operators to determine root causes of problems as well as conduct basic training of operators. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and has no direct reports.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• A high degree of mechanical and mathematical ability
• Dexterity and the ability to operate equipment
• Ability to learn how to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair air, water, gas, steam, air conditioning and hydraulic equipment, oil and oil filtration, solvent and aqueous strip cleaning and pickling systems, sanitary facilities and fire control systems.
• Follow verbal instructions, blueprints and sketches. Cuts, bends and threads pipe using hand or power cutters, threading and bending machines, and makes required openings in walls, ceilings or floors using appropriate tools.
• Color codes valves and piping according to standard codes.
• Maintain and repair all piping installation by soldering, tightening or refilling loose joints, replacing corroded pipes and cleaning clogged pipes.
• Record data and maintain pertinent records. Maintain a high degree of precision and accuracy m all work assignments. Maintains work area in an efficient and organized state.
• May be asked to participate in continuous improvement activities, individually or as a team member. Actively seeks to continuously improve standard work techniques or processes leading to, but not limited to decreasing lead time, improve quality, decreasing set-up time and/or processing time to reduce costs and expand business.
• Performs routine set-up and process adjustments inherent to the production process and monitors the product quality by visual observation and review of process data in accordance with meeting customer specifications.
• Will perform work otherwise not covered in the Plumber and Steamfitter job description, up to that person's personal ability.
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
