About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician 3 for their Honolulu, HI location. This role is responsible for ensuring the peak efficiency of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within mission-critical facilities. The technician will perform planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response, acting as a focal point for facility operations and support. A key aspect of this role is maintaining over 99.999% uptime for facility equipment supporting mission-critical servers. The position involves providing assistance and oversight to junior technicians and contractors, analyzing system requirements, recommending modifications, and installing new units or replacement parts according to specifications and safety guidelines. The role requires utilizing safe working practices, including lockout/tagout and MSDS, and maintaining good housekeeping. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting and repairing electronic units, printed circuit boards, sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits. Maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and industrial electrical equipment are essential, ensuring efficient operation. The technician will use test equipment like infrared scanners and vibration analyzers for diagnostics and log activities in CMMS. Daily walk-throughs to document parameters such as power availability, temperature, and humidity are required, along with monitoring and adjusting site BAS. The role involves managing mechanical and electrical systems during emergencies, including HVAC, power distribution, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, and fire and life safety systems. Identifying required materials and parts, preparing cost estimates, and maintaining vendor relationships are also key duties. The technician will schedule, coordinate, and oversee critical environment vendors, operate electrical data capturing devices, create and review MOPs and SOPs, and generate field service reports. Developing reliability reports to identify areas for efficiency improvements and conducting training for junior technicians are also part of the role.

Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret / SCI Clearance.
High school diploma with a minimum of 6+ years of experience in the trade.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOP's.
Ability to organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities, as well as establish and meet deadlines for work/projects.
Ability to interpret building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations and apply them as required by the site.
Ability to maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
Ability to operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment; determining systems are functioning properly and that maintenance is performed in accordance with MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
Ability to analyze, plan, and perform Preventive Maintenance of Electrical systems throughout the facility.
Must be able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
Understanding of power density and parity with HVAC system capacities.
Ensures availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained.
This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle. Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance with our policy.
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials.
Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Nice To Haves

Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred.
Electrical OEM factory specific training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility are operating at peak efficiency through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.
Providing assistance in administration and regulation of junior technicians' duties and oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical duties.
Analyzing systems requirements, conducting research on equipment and procedures, and recommending modifications to new and existing systems.
Installing new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
Utilizing safe working practices, including lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and making modifications to malfunctioning electronic units like printed circuit boards, set-up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits.
Performing maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and industrial electrical equipment, including power distribution components/wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems.
Utilizing appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meters, to perform system and equipment diagnostics.
Ensuring activities are logged in CMMS.
Performing daily walk-throughs of the facility, documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature, and humidity, and alarm status to identify discrepancies and trends.
Monitoring and making necessary changes to site BAS, following site MOP's & SOP's.
Managing mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations, including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, and fire and life safety.
Identifying required materials and parts for maintenance and repair, and preparing and presenting cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies.
Maintaining relationships with all major vendor accounts.
Scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing all critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events.
Setting up and operating electrical data capturing devices (Dranetz, Fluke PQA, etc.).
Creating required MOPs and SOPs, and performing periodic technical and quality reviews of all MOPs and SOPs.
Collecting and generating internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities performed at the facility.
Developing reliability reports to assist in identifying areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime.
Conducting training with junior technicians and other staff personnel on electrical equipment/systems for maintenance, repairs, and operation.
