About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician 2 in Honolulu, HI. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within mission-critical facilities. The technician will perform planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response, aiming for over 99.999% uptime for facility equipment supporting mission-critical servers. The role also involves assisting in the administration of junior technicians, overseeing contractors, analyzing system requirements, recommending modifications, and installing new equipment according to specifications and safety guidelines. The technician will utilize safe working practices, troubleshoot and repair electronic units and advanced electrical circuits, and perform maintenance on critical data center systems and industrial electrical equipment. Daily walk-throughs, monitoring and adjusting site BAS, and managing mechanical and electrical systems during emergencies are also key responsibilities. The role includes identifying required materials, preparing cost estimates, maintaining vendor relationships, coordinating vendors, operating electrical data capturing devices, creating and reviewing MOPs and SOPs, generating field service reports, developing reliability reports, and conducting training for junior technicians and staff.

Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret / SCI Clearance.
High school diploma with minimum 4+ years of experience in the trade.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOP's.
Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities, as well as establish and meet deadlines for work/projects.
Interprets building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations and applies them as required by the site.
Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
Operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment; determining systems are functioning properly and that maintenance is performed in accordance with MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
Analyze, plan, and perform Preventive Maintenance of Electrical systems throughout the facility.
Must be able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
Understanding of power density and parity with HVAC system capacities.
Ensures availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained.
This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle. Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance to our policy.
The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis.
Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials.
Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

Nice To Haves

Journeyman license is highly preferred.
Completion of a HVAC technical training program in a vocational or technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program is preferred.
Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred.
Electrical OEM factory specific training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility are operating at peak efficiency through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.
Rendering assistance in administration and regulation of the duties of junior technicians and providing oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical duties.
Analyzing systems requirements, conducting research on equipment and procedures, and recommending modifications to new and existing systems.
Installing new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
Utilizing safe working practices, including lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and making modifications to malfunctioning electronic units such as printed circuit boards, set-up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits.
Performing maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems, as well as all industrial electrical equipment and systems including power distribution components/wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems throughout the data center campus.
Utilizing appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meters, to perform system and equipment diagnostics.
Ensuring activities are logged in CMMS.
Performing daily walk-throughs of the facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc., to be cataloged and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.
Monitoring and making necessary changes to site BAS, following site MOP's & SOPs.
Managing mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, fire and life safety.
Identifying required materials and parts for maintenance and repair; preparing and presenting cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies for proposed installation or repairs.
Maintaining relationships with all major vendor accounts.
Scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing all critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events.
Setting up and operating electrical data capturing devices (Dranetz, Fluke PQA, etc.).
Creating required MOPs and SOPs; performing periodic technical and quality reviews of all MOPs and SOPs.
Collecting and generating internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities performed at the facility; reviewing all reports prior to submission to end user.
Developing reliability reports to assist in identifying areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime.
Conducting training with junior technicians and other staff personnel on electrical equipment/system for maintenance, repairs, and operation.
