About The Position

HDR is seeking an Electrical Intern/Co-Op to join its East Region Design Center, based in the Charlotte, North Carolina office. The intern will contribute to the Building Engineering Services Group, working with multidisciplinary teams on electrical designs for facilities across markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. The work supports infrastructure such as data centers and commercial environments and may involve power distribution, lighting, communications, and security systems. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside HDR staff on technically sound designs and to participate in the company’s employee-owned, collaborative culture.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Electrical Engineering program.
• Preferably have completed two years toward the degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Good proficiency with Revit.
• Related field or office work experience.
• Local candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical drawings for facilities across Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal markets, including drawings for power distribution, lighting, communications, and security systems.
• Support, coordinate, and work closely with multidisciplinary design teams.
• Perform basic electrical calculations and design layout plans and power one-line diagrams.
• Assist Project Engineers, other Electrical EITs, or BIM Specialists as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
