About The Position

This is a hands-on position that will test your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities. You’ll work with everything from PLC's and distributed control systems to motors, transmitters, and advanced pneumatic controls. As an E&I Technician, you'll be the expert responsible for the mill's electrical and instrumentation systems.

Requirements

  • A 2- to 4-year degree from a college, university, technical school, military, vocational, or other advanced educational institution is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
  • Perform basic to intermediate math.
  • Communicate clearly.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing ladders.
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment safely.
  • Meticulous approach to safety.
  • Following lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Wearing all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Adhering to strict plant safety policies for energized circuits and other hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems on a wide range of process equipment.
  • Repairing and wiring 120V, 460V AC, and 24V DC circuits.
  • Installing and maintaining distribution systems, transformers, and electrical controls like coils, contactors, and relays.
  • Servicing and maintaining a variety of critical equipment, including PLCs, distributed control systems, overhead cranes, motors, motor control centers, and guide systems.
  • Skillfully interpreting P&ID, hydraulic, pneumatic, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installations and repairs.
  • Using a multimeter and Megohm meter to diagnose issues, running and bending conduit, and wiring motors according to applicable codes.
  • Safely racking in and out high-voltage breakers (460V, 4160V, and 12.47kV).
  • Operating motorized equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, hoists, and cranes to support maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrating a strong learning aptitude by participating in ongoing educational and certificate training programs.
  • Communicating effectively with all personnel, assisting with maintenance and operational tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
