About The Position

The Simplot Company is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to ensure the efficient operation of all process control instrumentation in the plant. This role involves maintenance, sanitation, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of all electronic equipment and instrumentation on site. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the electronic equipment and instrumentation throughout the plant and possess the ability to make sound judgments in various situations.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (A.A. or equivalent) or High school diploma or Equivalent required.
• 3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• 1 year of industrial work experience preferred.
• A combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Idaho State Journeyman Electrician License. Must maintain certification throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Installs, operates, and maintains central process control equipment and instrumentation including computers, programmable controllers, motor controllers, and wiring to ensure high reliability.
• Ensures instrumentation is tuned and calibrated and performs routine preventive/predictive maintenance on all instrumentation.
• Assists Engineering and others in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of PLC and SCADA programming.
• Assists Engineering and others in developing plans for electrical and automation systems for capital and other projects.
• Performs mechanical duties and functions as needed.
• Conducts process auditing on a regular basis.
• Troubleshoots and performs minor and major repairs on equipment, including automation systems, to prevent or minimize equipment and machine downtime.
• Identifies and performs preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment throughout the facility.
• Maintains all shop inventories, tools, and shop equipment.
• Creates, performs, and completes work orders in the system as assigned or as needed, and prepares kitting when necessary.
• Coordinates or schedules additional work as needed.
• Identifies parts needed for work, conducts inventory searches, and locates parts.
• Documents, monitors, maintains, and assists with reporting of shift events, logging Predictive Maintenance data, and assists with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software.
• Maintains Company standards for quality, food safety, sanitation, and GMPs.
• Works within safety rules and regulations to actively avoid injury to self and others.
• Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all processing equipment and tools.
• Maintains necessary communication with team members and other support groups in a participative management style conducive to operational goals.
• May assist with training other plant personnel.
• Ensures additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
