About The Position

The Electrical & Instrumentation Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems used in industrial and commercial facilities. This role ensures equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while delivering high-quality technical service to customers and supporting compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in either Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
  • Apprentice or Journeyperson as an Electrician or Instrumentation Technician also will be considered.
  • Experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, automation, or maintenance environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including HART, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus considered an asset.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, panel layouts, and P&IDs.
  • Proficient with electrical testing equipment and instrumentation calibration devices.
  • Experience installing and/or servicing: Electrical distribution systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and control valves, Process instrumentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Must have a Valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate documentation.
  • Positive attitude with a focus on teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Ability to work in industrial environments including working at heights, confined spaces, and around energized equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, and commission electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Install and terminate power, control, and instrumentation wiring.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, loop drawings, panel layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Perform equipment start-up, functional testing, loop checks, and system commissioning.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Calibrate and verify field installations using approved standards, procedures, and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective electrical and instrumentation components.
  • Deliver professional onsite and remote technical support to customers.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer relationships through responsive and professional service.
  • Complete service reports, calibration certificates, inspection records, and work documentation accurately and on time.
