This role is responsible for the maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment and participation as a member of a plant staff that is effective in operating and maintaining a combined cycle facility in a safe manner. The position requires a strong understanding of AC/DC circuit theory, power plant cycle theory, and mechanics. The technician will inspect, test, repair, and install plant electrical equipment, conduct low, medium, and high voltage switching and grounding, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment malfunctions. Proficiency in using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints is essential, as is the ability to perform maintenance on 345 KV and below electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, motors, and heat trace systems. The role also involves analyzing and repairing boiler and turbine control systems, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation and control equipment, including the plant DCS, and troubleshooting control systems to maintain plant output. Additionally, the technician will repair, replace, or modify instrumentation, assist in designing new control loops, maintain plant CEMS equipment, and document instrumentation and control history. Management of vendors and contractors is also a key responsibility. Other functions include executing maintenance according to plant workflow, providing directions to operators, complying with environmental permits and company policies, acting as a team member, and performing other assigned duties. Occasional travel to other Vistra facilities for outage or project support may be required.
