About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical division is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to provide technical support to engineering teams developing new Eaton products and accessories. The role is based in Austin, Texas, and involves setting up and maintaining test equipment, evaluating power systems products, and fabricating and repairing electronic assemblies and related hardware. The expected annual salary range is $71,000–$105,000; actual compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, market conditions, and business considerations.

Candidates must be willing to work in a high-power laboratory test environment. Eaton is not offering relocation benefits and will consider candidates within 50 miles of Austin, with an exception for active-duty military service member candidates. Eaton will not provide employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electronics from an accredited institution and at least five years of experience in engineering or similar experience; alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or a technical discipline and two years of engineering experience.
• Willingness to work in a high-power laboratory test environment.
• Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of Austin, Texas; active-duty military service member candidates are exempt from this geographical limitation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with single- and multiphase low-voltage electrical systems.
• Understanding of electronic circuit theory of operation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with electronic component parametric evaluation.
• Experience using electronic test instrumentation, including digital oscilloscopes, power meters, digital multimeters, and data loggers.
• Experience setting up and testing products for certification.
• Experience with electromechanical prototype fabrication techniques, tools, and materials.
• PCBA rework, modification, and soldering techniques.
• Knowledge of basic electricity.
• Collaborative orientation and ability to succeed in a highly team-oriented, global, and diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment and instrumentation for evaluating power systems products.
• Perform product testing to industry standards.
• Use computer-based test equipment to record and analyze test data.
• Organize test data and prepare test reports.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair electronic assemblies and related hardware.
• Maintain and organize the test laboratory.
