About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician (Design), Level IV, to join their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. The successful candidate will be an employee of AIS, a government contractor, and will take day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, HR, and employment management. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance. This position is contingent upon contract award and funding.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree in a technical field and 10 to 15 years of related experience or high school diploma and 20+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in technical specialty.
  • Ability to obtain a Q-clearance.
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting in Bently MicroStation: One-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, Instrumentation and Controls Diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm and communication drawings.
  • Preparing data sheets, specifications, and walkdown reports.
  • Work in concert with an electrical engineers and other CAD drafters from the same work group.
  • Support construction and operational activities related to design outputs.
  • Field walkdowns will be required sometimes in radiological contaminated areas.
