Sr. Mgr, Electrical Engineering

Lam Research•Fremont, CA
•$146,000 - $311,000

About The Position

Lam Research is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead its Electrical Engineering Systems Integration team in the Etch Product Group. The team supports development of next-generation semiconductor process equipment and is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and releasing complex electrical systems and subsystems. Its scope includes I/O and control systems, AC/DC power distribution, embedded systems, electrical and electronic subsystems, and designs at the discrete-circuit and PCBA level. The manager provides technical and organizational leadership across the product development lifecycle, including system requirements, design approaches, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and technical decisions. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and partner organizations to ensure electrical designs meet system-level functional, performance, reliability, and operational requirements. The manager also develops the organization’s technical capabilities by mentoring engineers and technical leaders and advancing engineering methods, tools, processes, and training. The position’s salary range for applicants who reside or work onsite in the California San Francisco Bay Area is $146,000–$311,000. Salary offers depend on factors including location, level, education, training, skills, experience, and internal comparisons. Lam describes a range of work-location models, including hybrid On-site Flex and Virtual Flex options, based on role needs; the specific model for this role is not stated.

  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams in fast-paced product-development environments with evolving technical requirements, schedules, and priorities.
  • Strong technical background in complex electrical systems integration, control systems, AC/DC power distribution, embedded systems, and electrical/electronic subsystem design.
  • Hands-on engineering experience with analog and digital circuit design and PCBA development from schematic through qualification and production release.
  • Working knowledge and practical application of applicable industry safety and electrical standards, including SEMI S2/S22, NFPA 79, NEC, UL, IEC, and related standards.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and contract manufacturers supporting PCBAs, cable assemblies, power distribution assemblies, and related electrical hardware.
  • Strong analytical, system-level troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to define and drive functional requirements, resolve cross-functional technical issues, and lead engineering execution in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information and recommendations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Electrical Engineering Systems Integration team responsible for electrical and electro-mechanical systems, embedded systems, and power distribution.
  • Manage and develop electrical engineers responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of complex electrical systems and subsystems.
  • Provide technical direction, resource allocation, mentoring, and engineering guidance for development programs and projects.
  • Guide system requirements, design approaches, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making throughout product development.
  • Develop, define, and refine system and subsystem functional requirements and specifications with subject matter experts and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Drive electrical systems integration across electrical, mechanical, controls, software, materials, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product support, productivity, supply chain, suppliers, and partner organizations throughout product development and lifecycle activities.
  • Oversee the development and execution of test plans and procedures to verify technical, functional, and operational requirements.
  • Review and analyze engineering data, design documentation, test results, and technical risks to support engineering and program decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and represent the Electrical Engineering organization in design, project, and program reviews.
  • Guide evaluation and integration of custom and OEM electrical and embedded-system components and subsystems.
  • Develop organizational technical capabilities by mentoring engineers and technical leaders and advancing engineering methods, tools, processes, and training.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet system-level functional, performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
