About The Position

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a Manager level role within its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice. The role is based in Menlo Park, CA, Seattle, WA, or Bellevue, WA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, applying scientific and engineering principles, data-driven techniques, and experimental methods to solve complex technical problems. This involves performing electrical engineering analyses and consulting for electrical/electronic systems, supporting project areas such as failure analysis, risk assessment, reliability, design, and manufacturing. Responsibilities include performing electrical fault isolation at IC and PCB levels using analytical tools, conducting electrical schematic and safety design reviews, participating in all project stages from scoping to client presentations, and pursuing business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as Applied Physics
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, electronics, controls, embedded systems, or automation
  • Experience in designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to convey technical conclusions to both technical and non-technical staff in engineering, business and industry
  • Self-starter with strong fundamentals, interested in learning about new topics
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data centers and power management is preferred
  • Experience with data analysis automation is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing electrical engineering analyses and consulting related to electrical/electronic systems in ongoing Exponent work
  • Supporting project areas that include: failure analysis; risk assessment; reliability; design; manufacturing; and others
  • Performing electrical fault isolation at IC and PCB levels with analytical tools such as LIT, OBIRCH, X-Rays
  • Conducting electrical schematic and safety design reviews on consumer electronic devices
  • Participating at every stage of a project lifecycle: scoping and proposals; development of customized testing; conducting testing; collecting and analyzing data; drafting reports and presenting to clients
  • Pursuing business development opportunities
