•$140,000 - $180,000

About The Position

INFICON is seeking an experienced people leader to manage its Electrical Engineering team in Syracuse, New York. The team designs precision electronics for sensor and instrumentation products, spanning high-precision analog circuits, digital systems, RF electronics, power supplies, PCB layout, component selection, and prototype testing. Its work ranges from breadboard-level minimum viable products tested with customers to designs for series production, including circuits that measure currents in the nanoampere range and capacitances in the femtofarad range. The manager will build and develop a high-performing team while providing senior technical leadership. The role also contributes to adopting AI tools in electronics workflows, lean product discovery with customers, and component lifecycle and supply-chain strategy. The team’s products support semiconductor fabrication and applications in medical devices, automotive, energy, security, and space exploration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in electronics engineering.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or senior technical lead role.
  • Hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design, RF design, and/or high-precision measurement.
  • Experience taking products from concept through production and maintaining the product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing precision analog electronics.
  • Interest in collaborating with physicists, chemists, materials scientists, software engineers, and mechanical engineers to develop products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach electrical engineers working across analog, digital, power, and RF design.
  • Create individual development plans and support team members pursuing professional engineering or leadership career paths.
  • Foster psychological safety, a growth mindset, and a culture that values experimentation, including experiments that do not succeed.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide meaningful feedback, and advocate for employees’ professional development across the organization.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance in high-precision analog design, digital electronics, RF systems, signal processing, precision power supplies, embedded systems, PCB layout, and compliance.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, test plans, and documentation.
  • Promote lean, hypothesis-driven product discovery by building breadboard prototypes, testing them with customers, validating assumptions, and iterating.
  • Drive Agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban and communicate across hardware, software, mechanical, and product functions.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, new component technologies, and design methodologies, and help the team assess their potential impact.
  • Help shape the team’s adoption of AI tools in electronics workflows and support component lifecycle and supply-chain strategy.
