Electrical Engineering Manager

INFICONSyracuse, NY
$140,000 - $180,000Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking an experienced people leader and Electrical Engineering Manager who is passionate about developing talented engineers and building high-performing teams. You will lead INFICON's Electrical Engineering team in Syracuse, NY, which designs the precision electronics at the heart of our sensor and instrumentation products. The team works across the full spectrum of electronics: high-precision analog circuits, digital systems, RF electronics, power supplies, PCB layout, component selection, and prototype testing — from breadboard-level MVPs delivered directly into customer hands to series production designs. We measure currents in the nanoampere range and capacitances in the femtofarad range, and we ship these circuits into products used in semiconductor fabrication, medical devices, automotive, energy and security applications, space exploration, and more. As the team matures, you'll help shape how we adopt AI tools in electronics workflows, lead lean product discovery with customers, and help support component lifecycle and supply chain strategy — but your foundation is building an exceptional team and providing senior technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in electronics engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership or senior technical lead role.
  • Hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design, RF design, and/or high-precision measurement.
  • Experience taking products from concept through production and maintaining the product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with precision analog electronics design.
  • Curiosity about what's beyond electronics: You are excited about working with physicists, chemists, materials scientists, software and mechanical engineers to bring a product vision to life.
  • A genuine passion for developing people as professionals and future leaders, not just technically.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of electrical engineers spanning analog, digital, power, and RF design.
  • Build individual development plans with every team member and support their growth on either the professional engineering or the leadership career track.
  • Foster psychological safety, a growth mindset, and a culture where experimentation, including experiments that don't work out, is celebrated.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, give meaningful feedback, and champion your team's professional development across the organization.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance in high-precision analog design, digital electronics, RF systems, signal processing, precision power supplies, embedded systems, PCB layout, and compliance.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, test plans, and documentation.
  • Champion a lean, hypothesis-driven approach: build breadboard MVPs, get them into customers' hands, validate assumptions, and iterate.
  • Drive Agile practices (Scrum or Kanban) and communicate effectively across hardware, software, mechanical, and product functions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, new component technologies, and design methodologies, and help the team evaluate how they could change how we work.
