About The Position

RS&H is seeking an Aviation Electrical Engineering Intern for its Airfields Service Group in the Atlanta, Georgia office for Summer 2027. The intern will be mentored by and collaborate with airfield engineers based in Atlanta. The role provides hands-on experience in airport design and the aviation industry, including long-term airport planning, detailed engineering design, and construction administration. Projects may involve runways, taxiways, terminals, FAA NAVAIDs, airport lighting systems, and airport support facilities. Design elements include grading, drainage, pavement geometry, and construction phasing. Interns work alongside engineers and planners in a fast-paced professional setting, applying their educational knowledge and skills.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Interest in working on aviation projects.

Nice To Haves

• AutoCAD experience.
• Specific interest in airports and the aviation industry.
• Desire to pursue a career in electrical engineering and/or airport engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations using basic engineering principles.
• Prepare and revise engineering design drawings.
• Collect, prepare, and analyze data.
• Develop engineering plans using computer-assisted engineering software, including AutoCAD.
• Review construction shop drawings and develop construction solutions.
• Observe construction in the field.
