2027 Summer Internship - Electrical Engineering (Bangor/Portland, ME)
About The Position
Woodard & Curran is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern for its 2027 summer internship program in Bangor or Portland, Maine. The intern will shadow experienced professionals, contribute to real projects as part of a team, and apply classroom learning through experience-based work. Assignments vary according to experience, project needs, motivation, and aptitude. Interns work independently on many assignments and receive on-the-job mentoring from experienced engineers. The electrical engineering group supports industrial, water, wastewater, municipal, design-build, and plant operations clients on regional and national projects. This internship is part of the firm’s established internship model and may serve as a pipeline for future full-time engineering opportunities after graduation. Requirements
- Be a second- or third-year Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology major.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Submit a cover letter and resume that include applicable coursework, most recent GPA, and past work experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience or interest in power system design, motor control, instrumentation, PLC-based control systems, and technical writing.
- Coursework or experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Responsibilities
- Assist with entry-level electrical engineering assignments involving electrical distribution, relaying, power generation, motor control, and lighting projects.
- Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, studies, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform construction-phase services, including shop drawing review, contractor oversight, and quality assurance and quality control functions.
- Contribute to project teams and apply classroom learning to actual projects.
