About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in New York, NY. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while working alongside experienced engineers and consultants on real project work. In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination, equipment research, and job site observations while collaborating across disciplines to help meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to hospitality, mixed-use, office-commercial, and aviation-related work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing electrical system portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings.
  • Research commercially available equipment for project use.
  • Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
  • Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Review project documents for accuracy.
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
