About The Position

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in New York, NY. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while working closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants. This paid, mentored internship offers real project work supporting design coordination, documentation, and project progress across disciplines. You'll contribute to projects in government/municipal and science & technology markets while helping teams meet project goals, client expectations, and budget requirements.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or Building Information Model software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 Pounds
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical system design for building projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment
  • Assist with maintaining client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
