About The Position

Tandem Diabetes Care is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to contribute to the design, development, testing, and documentation of electronic components and circuits in the Company’s medical devices and associated test systems. This role involves assisting in research and development, planning, designing, and testing of electronic and electrical systems, including PCBAs, batteries, and LCD displays. The intern will utilize test equipment for experimental tests, evaluate electronic designs, perform design verification, and create test reports. They will also assist with component selection, participate in design reviews, maintain design history files, and evaluate material reliability. The position requires completion of a required training plan and adherence to company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Experienced with MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Basic proficiency with common electrical test equipment, e.g., DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, DC power supply.
  • Able to present information in a clear manner within the department.
  • Able to contribute on a consistent basis to team initiatives in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, assists in the research and development of electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBA), and electrical systems for the Company’s medical devices and associated test systems, utilizing knowledge of electronics theory as well as that gained through experience in electronics design.
  • Under supervision, assists in planning, designing, development, testing, and design reviews of electronic and electrical systems for the Company’s medical devices and associated test systems, including PCBAs, batteries, and LCD displays, among other components.
  • Under supervision, utilizes test equipment to conduct experimental tests, evaluate electronic designs, and perform design verification.
  • Creates test reports to document work results.
  • Assists with selection of electronic components and equipment with supervisor feedback, including detailed analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Embraces the Design Review process by participating in design reviews and maintaining design history files.
  • Participates in evaluating the reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production.
  • Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
