Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. is South Carolina’s generation and transmission electric cooperative, providing power to the state’s 19 distribution cooperatives. These cooperatives ultimately serve 2.0 million member-consumers. Central primarily purchases the power it supplies to its members through long-term power supply contracts. In addition, Central constructs and maintains transmission lines located throughout the state. Annual revenue exceeds $1.8 billion. Central Electric, based in Columbia, South Carolina, is looking to fill a summer intern position in the engineering department. An individual studying electrical engineering would be preferred, but any pursuit of a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math degree could be applicable to the organization. These internships will pay an hourly wage and generally offer 20 hours of work per week. In the recent past, interns at Central Electric have sometimes continued to work during school or during breaks, so long as work did not interfere with their studies. Some students have found this beneficial, allowing for flexibility with schedules. Historically, Central’s interns have been given increased responsibility pending their desire to excel.
