About The Position

The Electrical Engineer will contribute to the release of new products; will work in a cross-functional development group; provide support and leadership to other engineers; manage a variety of tasks and activities in a dynamic environment; and solve complex problems where no precedence exists. This role involves designing new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products and collaborating across various engineering disciplines, as well as with production and offering teams. The engineer will perform calculations, select components, design electrical layouts, and develop 2D and 3D CAD designs for electro-mechanical assemblies and wire harnesses. Responsibilities also include developing bills of material (BOM) and product definitions, implementing product changes, and working with the software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls. Extended responsibilities include supporting lab facilities and manufacturing, participating in DFM and DFMEAs, and identifying cost reduction opportunities.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related degree from an accredited college or university
5+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
Ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members
Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of the product development process
Excellent project management skills and communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater
Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), IEEE 519, UL 508A SB

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of UL60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/UL standards and UL508A Electrical Panels
VFD programming and troubleshooting experience
Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet

Responsibilities

Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products
Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams.
Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points.
Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements
Create, evaluate, select and review electrical box and electrical panel layouts, ensuring proper component placement, component selection and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Selecting and evaluating electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices.
Design/develop/create/review/revise 2D and 3D revision-controlled CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies, point‑to‑point wire harnesses, wire routings, wire and fuse sizing, connection drawings, customer-facing electrical diagrams (schematics) using a Product Data Management (PDM) tool.
Develop/create/review/revise bills of material (BOM) and product definitions in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to support re-use of existing designs, manufacturing, quality, and service
Develop solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department
Work with software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls
Support lab facilities with engineering prototypes and testing
Support manufacturing during manufacturing prototypes, manufacturing pilot builds
Participate in Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs)
Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes
