About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Engineer to join their Rail & Transit team. This role involves contributing to the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems for complex railway and transit infrastructure projects. The engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to support safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation solutions. The position offers the opportunity to work on projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design and construction support, requiring strong technical capability in railway electrical systems and a passion for solving mobility challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  • Experience in the design and delivery of railway, transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems related to rail and transit environments, such as Traction power systems, Low voltage power distribution, EMI/EMC analysis, Grounding and bonding, Backup power / UPS systems, Conduit and cable routing, Equipment, rooms, and electrical layouts
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations applicable to railway and transit projects
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and design documentation
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project environments and integrated design delivery

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with the relevant provincial engineering association is preferred
  • Proficiency with standard engineering software and design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, or other related platforms is considered an asset
  • Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and engineering of electrical systems for railway and transit projects, including traction power, low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding and bonding, and associated infrastructure.
  • Contribute to concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases for stations, guideways, depots, tunnels, and corridor infrastructure.
  • Apply technical and analytical problem-solving skills to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient transportation solutions.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Manage priorities and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Apply railway, transit, and electrical engineering best practices, identifying technical issues, project risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, track, signaling, systems, and mechanical disciplines for integrated project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and client-focused environment.
  • Assist with coordination across clients, stakeholders, contractors, and project partners.
  • Support project delivery in line with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, field investigations, and construction support activities.
  • Contribute to proposals, technical submissions, and project planning.
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
