About The Position

EAC Consulting, Inc. is looking for a licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to join our Transportation Technology & Systems team at any of our locations in South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach). This role involves engineering design, contract document preparation, project management, and business development assistance. The engineer will be responsible for making design recommendations, performing calculations, preparing reports, and serving as a technical advisor and mentor to junior team members. They will also lead or participate in the design process, including field investigations, detailed design work, and checking the work of others. Project management duties include planning, scheduling, and coordinating technical and administrative activities. Business development support includes assisting with technical write-ups for proposals, concept development, and client interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) required or ability to take and pass the PE exam within 6 months of employment.
  • Out-of-state PE is acceptable, but a Florida PE is required within 3 months of employment.
  • Minimum 7 to 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in NEC, NFPA and other national standards.
  • Knowledge of codes, principles, and practices of electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of design techniques for developing solutions for engineering problems.
  • Knowledge in Signalization, Lighting, Utilities, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Tolling.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, State (FDOT) and Municipal (Green Book) design criteria, standards and plans preparation requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop high-quality design plans and check the design work of others for accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and process complex technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer of Record where needed.
  • Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
  • Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Serves as a technical advisor and mentor to junior-level project team members.
  • Provides Design and Post-design services during construction.
  • Develops plans, specifications, and reports in accordance with engineering standards and client requirements.
  • Leads or participates in the design process to deliver successful projects.
  • Work may include: Field investigations or inspections, Detailed design work and plans preparation, Detailed checks of design computations and plans done by others, Coordination of specific design elements.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates technical and administrative activities to deliver assignments that meet client requirements.
  • Assists with technical write-ups or other content as needed for proposals.
  • Assists with concept development for project approaches, etc. in proposals.
  • Participates in project development or business development activities with clients.
