About The Position

Snap Inc. is a technology company focused on improving how people live and communicate through its camera. The company operates Snapchat, Specs Inc. (developing advanced eyewear integrating digital experiences), Bitmoji, and Saturn. Specs Inc., a subsidiary of Snap Inc., is dedicated to making computing more human and develops Specs eyewear and Lens Studio for augmented reality experiences. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Specs team. This role involves owning the end-to-end schematic design, component selection, and stackup definition for circuit boards from concept to delivery. The engineer will design with complex System-on-Chips (SoCs), Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMICs), Wireless ICs, and sensors for low-power consumer electronics. Key responsibilities include leading and contributing to technical design reviews, supervising and reviewing PCB, Flex, and Rigid Flex layout, and debugging hardware issues with cross-functional teams, focusing on areas like desense, power states, signal integrity, ESD, and EMI. The engineer will also test and validate electrical designs at both board and system levels, collaborate closely with mechanical, software, RF, thermal, and industrial design teams, author clear electrical test documentation, develop electronic prototypes, and support development builds at external contract manufacturers. International travel up to 20% is expected.

Requirements

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and understanding of best practices
  • Experience in electronic design, including component selection, schematic design, and familiarity with schematic capture and layout tools
  • Proficiency in design of battery operated systems including chargers, fuel gauges and battery protection circuits
  • Experience working with various communication interfaces such as USB, I2C/I3C, SPI, UART, MIPI, SWD and PCIE
  • Knowledge of layout strategies and tradeoffs for linear and switching power supply circuits, EMI mitigation, high-speed signal integrity and power delivery networks
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, battery simulators, logic analyzers and thermal chambers
  • Great interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across groups through written, verbal and visual formats
  • BS/BA degree in Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of post-Bachelor’s electrical or hardware engineering experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field +2 year of post-grad electrical or hardware engineering experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field

  • Experience with Cadence Orcad and Allegro
  • Experience navigating failure analysis with external vendors
  • Experience with overseas manufacturing

Responsibilities
