About The Position

Computational Physics, Inc. (CPI) is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer to support customers at the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) in Washington, D.C. The USNO is responsible for precise time and navigation products. This role involves providing test and validation support for critical time dissemination equipment. The successful candidate will design, implement, and integrate RF electronics, RF over fiber, and timing systems into existing infrastructure. Responsibilities include validating, troubleshooting, and monitoring atomic frequency standards, and investigating new methods for clock signal distribution and commercial clock technologies. The position requires an active SECRET security clearance and the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance. The engineer will work closely with other CPI contractors and civilian members of the Precise Time Department, reporting to the Clock Operations Division Chief. Most work will be on-site at USNO, with potential travel required.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Knowledge of EE fundamentals: circuit theory, power, RF, etc.
  • Automated test and validation of electronic systems
  • Data analysis and presentation with MATLAB or Python
  • Use of test equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Active SECRET security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required for DoD contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Design implementation of RF electronics, RF over fiber, and timing systems
